Quick ramp-up for company’s expansion

A leading entertainment discovery and personalization company was looking for a strategic partner to manage their television and music content’s metadata operations to support discovery and analytics. With aggressive growth targets, the challenge called for immediate ramp-up with the metadata operations area integrated with other business units.

 

SOLUTION
Global resource mobilization in 4 office locations across 12 languages

The SPi Global team performed ingestion, normalization, and integration of TV and music metadata through multiple data streams; including content providers, distributors, channels, websites, and physical media into a data warehouse. Metadata was then linked in several ways to create a fully referential database. Examples of links include artists, albums, and songs, or TV series, seasons, and episodes.

A detailed knowledge of the database structure and linkages, as well as knowledge of the language and local entertainment market was essential to effectively perform this task. SPi used its global resource pool to set up the team in 4 offices covering 12 languages. A train the trainer program was implemented with a core group being trained by client resources for four weeks and passing the knowledge to the other members of the team. Specialists were brought in for specific areas such as sports and music.

 

RESULT
Zero Error Zone established

SPi Global worked with the client to establish process metrics, and created tools to identify changes in websites that would need to be quickly captured in the database. SPi Global also established a quality assurance strategy for the most critical feeds with the concept of Zero Error Zones, a model and buzzword that was picked up by the client’s marketing team as well. Zero Error Zones are prime time slots on the most important channels where you cannot afford to have an error. With the content being error-free, the client could communicate with their customers more effectively.

SPi Global continues to work with the client to identify new geographies and languages that would need support as well as continuous quality and efficiency improvement of existing operations.
