InSPIre Change

Since 2012, SPi Global has been implementing a global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program where it activates simultaneous CSR projects within 24 hours across its global offices.  In 2018, the CSR Day program was expanded to a sustainable framework, with a focused goal of supporting our primary advocacy for youth welfare and education through information technology.  Dubbed “Share the InfinIT gift:  CSR Day 2018”, the program created meaningful impact to more than 14,300 lives in the communities we belong, and collected almost 50,000 volunteer hours from employees in 19 global locations.

On March 9, 2019, the company set out to Spread more of IT at the annual CSR Day. Continuing to Share the InfinIT gift,  LEVEL I.T. Up projects that aim to deepen and widen our community and social involvement were launched from across all our offices in the Philippines, India, US, Vietnam, China, and Nicaragua.

Headed by the sites’ CSR Champions, the new and more deliberate CSR initiatives have led to established partnerships with private companies, government agencies, and non-government organizations including foundations, orphanages, and other beneficiary groups.

Some of the various CSR projects slated for 2019 include smart classrooms and computer libraries set-up, facilities improvement and internet connectivity enablement in beneficiary schools; as well as, facilitation of reading and IT literacy programs for children in underprivileged communities, IT-skills training in the grassroots, and environmental protection and preservation activities.

Since its inception, SPi Global’s CSR program has generated 259,004.23 employee volunteer hours and has made a difference to the lives of at least 87,780 beneficiaries.

KALINGA

SPi Global has co-sponsored the building of homes for underprivileged communities in the Philippines. To date, SPi and Springer Science + Business Media have turned over 50 houses and a three-story multi-purpose hall – with day care and computer learning centers – in a community in Parañaque, Metro Manila. A separate community, with 48 houses and a community development center, was also completed with TNT subsidiary Post NL Shore, in Gawad Kalinga’s Euro Village.

Learning-based projects with the goal of creating awareness on IT literacy for an improved quality of life have been launched in the said villages on CSR Day 2019. Supplementing its literacy and livelihood workshops that will run throughout the year, SPi Global also upgraded the set-up of the community’s computer learning center to benefit at least 300 families.
